The back of this beautiful plate reads, "Andrew Jackson lovingly referred to The Hermitage as his haven, a peaceful shelter from political tension and turmoil. This was the center of his universe - an imposing Greek Revival mansion set on 1200 acres of quiet woodlands and fertile fields in Middle Tennessee. Here General Jackson shed affairs of state for the role of husband, father, and farmer. Today The Hermitage, a National Historic Landmark, offers an insight life of a nineteenth-century plantation and a glimpse of its owner, the seventh President of the United States." The plate was made in Staffordshire, England exclusively for Ladies Hermitage Association Nashville, Tennessee. It measures 10" and is in excellent vintage condition.
